Smart bracelet to find missed items and to remind about things and passwords
Design Brief
Our intention is to design a wearable device that tracks and directs users to misplaced items. When you have a missing item it gives you a notification in your bracelet or phone. The functionalities include GPS tracking, a map navigation interface, LED lights, vibration, voice recognition and beeps.
Our target personas are elderly people and this artifact would as well be useful for busy-minded people and people with certain disabilities e.g the blind.
Presently there are existing tracking devices but limited to particular items. Our design ideation makes it possible to track random items by placing a tiny chip in/on the items.
Human-Artefact Model:
Human | Artifact | |
Why | Why to use Smart Bracelet? Older people Forget their Accessories |
Why to use artefacts? In order to remind her/his place she left |
What | What goals are being achieved? Handy and quick assistance to locate the items |
What can be done with the artifact? To read data from missing items via application |
How | How does one achieve their goals S/he seeks for the items ?everywhere and ask people about it they have seen the items or not |
How should the artifact be used? The artifact can be used by sending signals to chips inserted in her everyday items this sends location tracking to the artifacts |
How | How does one operate the artifact to achieve goals? By installing the application in the artifact where she read the data sent from the missing items |
How can the artifact be operated? The artifact can be used by talking to it mentioning the name of the lost item. the chip on the item triggers an alarm vibrates and an LED blinking simultaneously the artifact display a map navigation. |
Sketching Distributed Interactions: The 10 Plus 10 Method and Sequence Diagrams
DESIGN CHALLENGE
A wearable device to help locate missed items with ease.
ASSUMPTION
The devices notifies the owner when a registered item is missing/left far away from the device
There are interactions with the device and other devices (laptops, tablets, phones etc) with the use of some communication technology.
The device helps the owner navigate easily to the lost item and offers some additional features for locating an item easily

Second 10 Detailed Versions
Sequence Diagram, including annotations and transitions
Animated Sequence
Our first Animated Sequence describes finding the missed item, when a person leaves him/her item somewhere and by getting distance that item uses the integrated chip to send the data to the bracelet/phone and the then user gets notification for that and then proceed to find the missed item.
Our Second Sequence is about using the other people who uses the same technology to find the missed item. for instance, when person x misses his keychain, he tries to communicate the person nearby the missed item to find it.
Our Third sequence shows that you can even control and remote your missed phone. thanks to cloud system it doesn’t matter how far the distance is between your bracelet and phone.
Reflections
We used Sketch and Keynote for making the animations, and we think that using a bracelet to find the missed items could be strongly suggested and useful, as people these days started using the smart bracelet so this technology can be spreaded.
